Western Language and Literature department, which was founded in 15.01.1993 within the faculty of Science and Letters, embodies English, German and French Language and Literature programmes. The department carries on its activities by three assistant professors, a research assistant doctor and three research assistants who work for English Language and Literature programme and an assistant professor who work for German Language and Literature programme.

The aim of Western Language and Literature department is to provide foreign language skills and an intellectual perspective that brings to the forefront of free and critical thinking with a modern and high-quality education approach that aims at interdisciplinary approach to our students who are interested in language and literature and who are interested in language and literature.

The vision of Western Language and Literature department is to educate individuals who are able to think feely and critically, have a sense of responsibility, have professional and social ethics awareness, can communicate effectively, are creative, self-confident, have social sensitivity, are able to conduct interdisciplinary studies by following national and international developments and who are dependent on Atatürk's principles and revolutions.

Our bachelor degree graduated students are able to work as foreign language teachers (on condition that they have the certification of education), and also as research assistants or lecturers in the state and foundation universities. Our graduated students are able to work as translators, authors or editors, and also on the fields such as tourism, departments of ministries, which are related to foreign relations and the European Union, banks, state or foundation media organizations, which require linguistic, cultural and literary knowledge.
