The Faculty of Arts and Sciences was founded in 1993 and the Mathematics Undergraduate program accepted its first students in the academic year of 1993-1994. The 4-year undergraduate program of our department started with the first placement of ÖSYM in the building serving as the Faculty of Medicine today. Department of Mathematics gave its first graduates at the end of 1996-1997 academic year. With the completion of the building of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Taşlıçiftlik campus in December 1999, the department continued to provide services by moving to its new building. As of 2008, undergraduate second education program was opened in the department. In our department, where the education period is four years, Master and Doctorate education is also given depending on the Institute of Science. Mathematics is an area where the individual can gain versatile thinking, follow new developments, think critically and solve problems that he will need throughout his life, not only in his learning life. In addition to science, where mathematical study is an indispensable tool of science and technology, its use is constantly increasing in new knowledge fields such as biology and social sciences.
With the advantage of being a universal language, mathematics also helps raise individuals who can do active, productive and international research.
In our department, in order to provide education at universal standards, undergraduate education program, students are provided with basic and academic mathematics knowledge with compulsory courses and help them improve with elective courses.
In the light of all this, our most important vision is to raise modern, hardworking, solution-oriented, always open to development, ambitious individuals and to place our graduates at the top in the preferred group with our experienced and high-quality academic staff.
